Backpacking in Maine

Maine is home to Mt. Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.   I hiked in Maine in 2007 as part of my AT hike, and then returned in 2009 to hike the 100-Mile Wilderness and climb Katahdin with my 2007 trail buddy "Handyman" and my nephew "Dust Buster."   This part of Maine is astonishingly remote, with few roads.   Many of the ponds can only be approached on foot or by float plane.
