"The wind came up shortly after I arrived at Mollies Ridge in the Smoky Mountains. There are about 17 people here. The weather is really nasty — cold and very windy. I am inside the shelter on the top bunk platform. Coach and some of the young people that hike with him are playing a small guitar and singing. They performed a version of Tom Petty’s “Free Falling” where they changed the words to include such phrases as “freezing my ass off,” among others. Pretty funny. And quite appropriate to our situation here."
